Weight loss dietsThe Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet initially detailed by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet is not expressly a fat reduction diet, although many zone diet fans believe that they really manage to lose a few pounds by following the zone diet. The main theory of the Zone Diet is that if you can control the levels of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts your body in a balanced state that is an awful lot more wholesome than usual, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone". Sears holds the theory that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is much more efficient and, because of this, does not need to convert surplus energy to fat. The main procedure of the zone system is to monitor and control the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with large amounts of Omega 3 fish oils. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a weight loss system created by Florida-based cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that dieters should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston developed the south beach diet as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his detailed analysis of scientific research completed on other nutritional studies. "good" foods include, broiled ham, chicken breast, shellfish, mozzarella cheese, pistachio nuts, nonfat yoghurt and certain vegetables, like kidney beans, collard greens and spinach. |
