Ingredients
2 cup raw regular white rice
1 cup of light or dark raisins
3 tbsp butter
Directions
Cook rice as package label directs; drain if necessary. Meanwhile
cover raisins with boiling water; let stand 10 minutes; drain. With
fork, stir raisins into drained cooked rice along with butter.
Makes about 8 servings.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet created by Cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that one should consume "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston developed this diet for people who have cardiac problems, based on his detailed study of scientific data completed on other dietary studies. Good foods include, broiled ham, turkey bacon, seafood, provolone cheese, pistachio nuts, eggs and some vegatables, such as chickpeas, celery and water chestnuts. The Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last decade. Although not accepted by all scientists, it supposedly allows fat reduction whilst still eating many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, like pork and eggs. On the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a low carbohydrate/high protein, weight loss program. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil. Foods high in flavonoids (inlcudes citrus fruits, kohlrabi, yams and chamomile) The nutrients known as flavonoids which are present in these foods are believed to be helpful in fighting cancer. Nutritionalists looking into the medical effects of flavonoids believe that they may well have most other health giving capabilities, amongst them, anti-asthma and anti-platelet capabilities. The majority of these also have a low calorie count, so should be included in every weight loss program. |
