The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet system initially created by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a fat reduction diet, but many zone diet followers find that they really reduce weight by following the zone diet. The science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to gain control of the amount of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, as a consequence puts one's body in a balanced state which is a lot more healthy than usual, known as the 'zone'. Sears claims that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is perfectly balanced and, as a result, does not build up layers of fat. The most important procedure of the zone system is to maintain the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get large amounts of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. Foods high in flavonoids (inlcudes dark chocolate, kale, soy and coriander) The flavonoids present in these fruit and vegetables are believed to be good in fighting cancer. Nutritionalists researching the medical effects of flavonoids suspect that they also have numerous other health giving properties, amongst them, anti-dermatitis and antiplatelet powers. Many also have a low calorie count, so should be included in your weight loss program. |
