The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Popular with many famous celebrities, it enables weight reduction whilst allowing many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, like pork and cheeses.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, diet system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including, but not limited to, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil.

Lycopene foods
(includes apricot, red peppers & tomato)

Lycopene is a natural compound used to color foods and part of the carotenid family of phytochemicals. Lycopene is the agent responsible for the deep red color of quite a few foods.

Intrestingly, unlike many other nutrients, lycopene is not damaged if it is cooked, rather it is in actuality improved by being heated.

. Its key advantage is that it behaves as an antioxidant and is thought to be an asset in the battle to lower the chances of cancer.

It is the most efficacious carotenoid quencher of singlet oxygen, which is connected with skin aging. It is also thought by nutritionalists to curtail the progression of atherosclerosis.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
