Foods rich in lycopene (includes grapefruit, red peppers & sweet gourd) The phytochemical lycopene is a simple chemical compound and a member of the carotenid family. It is behind the red color of a good number of natural foods. Usefully, unlike numerous other nutrients, it is not damaged during the cooking process, but is observably made more effective by being heated. . Lycoprene's most important advantage is that it serves as an antioxidant and is thought to be an asset in the battle to reduce the chances of cancer.
