Diet Terrys Cilantro Cream Chicken Recipe brought to you by Diet Recipes To-Go
Diet typesThe Atkins’ Diet Now nearly 5 decades old, the popular atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it enables fat reduction whilst encouraging you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, eg bacon and butter. With the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that must be avoided. It is often referred to as a low carb/high protein, nutrition system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The logic of the atkins diet is that if we reduce your intake of carbs, our bodies will burn up the fat we have stored and we will become thinner The Glycaemic Index Diet The glycaemic index nutrition and weightloss system is based on the gi (or glycaemic index), a list of food types and a score representing the speed that the carbs in the food type gets changed to glucose in your body. The theory is that long-acting types of food (ie with a low Gi number), suppress your appetite and mean that you can reduce your intake of food without feeling hungry. It's also extremeley useful for folk with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are helpful in managing increases in blood glucose secretion. |
