Types of diet

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system primarily created by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet is not expressly a weight reduction diet, nevertheless many zone diet followers believe that they really reduce body weight by following it.
The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to gain control of the secretion of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which puts your body in a state of equilibrium which is more wholesome than normal, which is known as the zone.
Sears states that a body that is in 'the zone' is working at its most efficient and, as a consequence, does not convert energy to unsightly fat.
The key procedure of the zone diet is to monitor and control the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to take increased amounts of Omega 3 fish oils.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index nutrition and weight loss system is reliant on the gi (or glycaemic index), a list of types of food and a score illustrating the rapidity with which the glucose of the food gets changed to glucose in your blood stream. The claim is that slow acting food types (ie with a low Glycaemic score), keep you satiated for longer and mean that you can eat less food without feeling you are always hungry.
It is also especially beneficial for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI types of food are helpful in minimizing surges in blood sugar levels.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet started by Florida-based cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston invented his weight loss system for people who have cardiac problems, as a consequence of his detailed study of scientific studies completed on other weight loss studies.
Examples of good foods include, lean cuts of beef, chicken breast, fish and shellfish, fat-free cheeses, peanut butter, nonfat milk and certain vegetables, such as asparagus, cauliflower and mushrooms.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
