Diet typesThe Glycaemic Index Diet The glycaemic index nutrition system is based on the glycaemic index, a list showing types of food and a score illustrating the ease that the carbs of the food type gets transformed to sugar in the dieters system. The believe is that long-acting types of food (ie those food types with a low Gi number), suppress your appetite for longer and help you to cut down on food without being miserabl;e. It's also very good for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are beneficial in preventing rises in blood sugar amount. The Atkins’ Diet Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it claims to allow fat reduction whilst allowing you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, like fatty meat and egg and cheese. With this diet you eat protein and fat, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. Because of this, it is known as a high protein, low carb, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The logic behind the famous atkins diet is that even though our bodies use both fats and carbs to burn into carbohydrates, it is the carbohydrates which are burned initially. If we reduce your consumption of carbs, we will utilise the fat we have stored and we will achieve weight loss. Although inviting, this theory is contentious, not all doctors concur and some even think it might be unsafe. |
