Diet typesThe Glycaemic Index Diet The gi index nutrition and weight loss system is linked to the glycaemic index, a list of food types and a score representing the rapidity with which the carbohydrates of the food type gets converted to sugar in the dieters blood stream. The theory is that slow release foods (ie those with a low Glycaemic index score), will keep you feeling full for longer and help to reduce your intake of food without feeling hungry. It's also very beneficial for folk with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are beneficial in managing increases in blood sugar amount. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system initially advocated by Barry Sears in a number of books. The Zone diet is not distinctly a weight loss diet, nevertheless many followers discover that they actually seem to lose weight by following the zone diet. The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can control the amount of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a consequence puts one's body in a balanced state that is much more healthful than usual, which is known as the zone. Sears believes that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is much more efficient and, as a consequence, does not convert energy to unsightly fat. The main procedure of the system is to monitor and control the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get increased amounts of Omega 3 fish oils. |
