3 tbsp fresh lime juice
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp garlic, minced
1 tsp jalapeno chili, minced
1/2 tsp lime peel, grated
1/2 tsp fresh ginger, grated
4 boneless chicken breasts, skinned (about 1 lb), cut
1 tsp cornstarch

1/2 yellow pepper, julienned
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp freshly ground pepper

The low-cal diet

Rather obviously, low calorie diet depends on the fact that if you want to reduce weight, the most important step is to take in less calories than you actually use.

So what is a calorie?
The calorie is the standard unit for energy measurement in dieting. The food calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree celsius. If a meal contains more calories, then it will turn into a larger amount of energy when eaten.

Examples of low calorie foods include cauliflower, radishes, water melon, lean ham, and bamboo shoots.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index diet system is reliant on the gi (or glycaemic index), a chart showing food types and a score illustrating the ease that the energy in the food type gets transformed to glucose in the dieters body. The believe is that slow acting foods (ie with a low Gi score), keep you satisfied for a longer period of time and help you to consume less food without starving yourself.
It is also extremely effective for people with diabetes, as the low GI foods are beneficial in minimizing rises in glucose secretion.

Carotenoid foods
(includes paprika, turnip greens and winter squash)
These amazing vegetables and fruits are rich in alpha and beta carotenes believed by many be a key nutrient in cancer prevention, spefically cancer of the lung, esophagus and stomach. The majority of these are low in calories, so should be included in your weight loss regime.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
