The Recipe Instructions

Ingredients

2 3/4 cup ; water
2 tsp olive oil
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/4 cup brown rice
2 lb lean ground turkey
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
2 28-oz cans peeled tomatoes, chopped with juice
16 oz can tomato sauce
1 tsp hot red pepper sauce, or to taste
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp black pepper

Directions

In a medium saucepan, bring cups water, the oil, and salt to a boil
over high heat. Add the brown rice, reduce the heat to low, and
simmer covered for about 50 minutes, until the rice is tender. Drain
the rice if necessary, and set aside.

Meanwhile in a large nonstick skillet, cook the ground turkey, chopped
onion, and garlic over medium heat for about 7 minutes, stirring
occasionally, until the turkey loses its pink color. Stir in the
tomatoes and their juice, tomato sauce, hot pepper sauce, oregano,
and black pepper.

Bring to a simmer, reduce the heat to low, and cook, uncovered, for
about 45 minutes. Stir in the cooked brown rice, simmer an
additional 5 minutes, and serve immediately.

Diet information

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system started by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that dieters should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston developed his nutritional system for people who have heart disease, as a result of his detailed analysis of scientific studies on other diets.
Good foods include, veal cutlets, skinless poultry, shrimp, fat-free cheeses, pistachio nuts, lowfat or nonfat milk and some vegatables, such as black beans, collard greens and mushrooms.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index diet is reliant on the gi index, a list of food types and a score illustrating the rapidity with which the glucose of the food type gets converted to glucose in the dieters bloodstream. The theory is that slow release foods (ie those food types with a low Glycaemic score), suppress your appetite for longer and help you to reduce your intake of food without starving yourself.
It's also extremely good for people with diabetes, as the low GI food types are beneficial in reducing increases in blood glucose secretion.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system initially created by Barry Sears in a number of books and publications. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a weight reduction diet, but many 'zone dieters' find that they really reduce weight by following this system.
The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if you limit the secretion of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which puts your body in a state of equilibrium which is far more healthy than normal, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears claims that if you get into this 'zone', your body is working at its most efficient and, because of this, does not convert energy to unsightly fat.
The most important method of the zone system is to keep tight control over the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with large amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
