The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a weight loss program first created by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a weight reduction diet, nevertheless many zone diet followers discover that they really seem to lose a few pounds by following it. The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to limit the amount of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a consequence puts your body in a state of balance which is a lot more healthful than usual, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears claims that when your body is in this 'zone' it is working at its best and, as a result, does not build up layers of fat. The most important technique of the diet is to monitor and control the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with large amounts of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. |
