Ingredients
1/2 small red bell pepper, chopped
2 tbsp white vinegar
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
1 package equal
2 chicken breasts, skinned
1 lime wedges, for garnish
Directions
A perfect accompaniment to brown or white rice. This recipe can
easily be doubled.
Puree red pepper with vinegar in a blender or food processor.
Pour into a saucepan, add red pepper flakes and bring the mixture to a
boil.
Reduce to a simmer and cook for 3 minutes.
Remove from the heat and let the sauce cool.
When cooled, stir in the Equal.
Broil chicken breasts for 10 minutes, or until browned; turn chicken
and broil approximately 5 minutes more.
Place each chicken breast on a bed of rice. Divide spicy sauce and
ladle over the top of the chicken.
Garnish with lime wedges and serve.

Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes garlic, onions and welsh onion) The onion and garlic family of foods is rich in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe may be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Even though there is little hard medical proof at hand, allyl sulfides are also believed to help with colds, sterilization and diabetes. Foods containing allyl sulfides are low in calories, so are ideal for including in your weight loss regime. Lycopene foods (includes watermelon, papaya and cochinchin gourd) The chemical lypcopene is a naturally occurring compound and part of the carotenid family of phytochemicals. This chemical is the agent responsible for the red color of some types of food. Intrestingly, unlike numerous vitamins, lycopene does not degrade if cooked, but is really increased in efficacy by cooking. . Its most valuable medical value is that it serves as an antioxidant and is believed to help lower the probabilty of cancer. It is the most powerful quencher of singlet oxygen, which is associated with skin aging. It's also thought by nutritionalists to impede the growth of atherosclerosis. |
