Weight loss diets


The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system initially devised by Barry Sears in a number of books and publications. The Zone diet is not specifically a fat reduction diet, but some people claim that they actually lose weight by following the zone diet.
The science claimed for the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to limit the secretion of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts your body in a state of balance that is much, much more wholesome than it normally is, which is known as the zone.
Sears believes that a body that is in 'the zone' is working at its most efficient and, as a result, does not need to build up stores of fat.
The main method of the diet is to maintain the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get increased amounts of Omega 3 fish oils.


The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a weight loss system invented by Dr. arthur agatston, a cardiologist from miami, usa, which encourages that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston developed his weight loss regime as an aid to patients with heart conditions, based on his analysis of scientific studies completed on other diets.
Approved foods include, canadian bacon, skinless poultry, seafood, parmesan cheese, almonds, nonfat yoghurt and some vegatables, such as lentils, broccoli and turnips.


The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the sixities, the famous atkins diet is still one of the most popular diets today. Although not accepted by all scientists, it enables weight reduction whilst allowing you to eat many of the foods you love, eg pork and cheeses.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is often referred to as a high protein, low carb, nutrition system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.
