The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a weight loss system invented by Dr. arthur agatston, a cardiologist from miami, usa, which encourages that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston developed his weight loss regime as an aid to patients with heart conditions, based on his analysis of scientific studies completed on other diets. Approved foods include, canadian bacon, skinless poultry, seafood, parmesan cheese, almonds, nonfat yoghurt and some vegatables, such as lentils, broccoli and turnips. The Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the sixities, the famous atkins diet is still one of the most popular diets today. Although not accepted by all scientists, it enables weight reduction whilst allowing you to eat many of the foods you love, eg pork and cheeses. Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is often referred to as a high protein, low carb, nutrition system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. |
