Superfoods containing flavonoids (inlcudes lettuce, apples, soya and chamomile) The large family of compounds known as flavonoids discovered in these fruit, vegetables and pulses are thought by experts to have properties in fighting cancer. Specialists researching the properties of flavonoids think they also have most other health benefits, amongst them, anti-allergic and antioxidant capabilities. A good number are also low in calories, so make sure you add them to your diet system. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes garlic, leeks and green onion) The alliaceae family of vegetables is rich in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe may be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Although there is little scientific proof available, allyl sulphides are also thought by many experts to reduce problems with colds, sterilization and insomnia. Foods containing allyl sulfides are low in calories, so you should add them to your weight loss regime. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet primarily created by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a weight reduction diet, nevertheless many followers believe that they actually manage to lose body weight by following the zone diet. The science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can limit the levels of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts the body in a balanced state that is much, much more wholesome than normal, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears alleges that when your body is in this 'zone' it is working at its best and, as a result, does not need to build up stores of fat. The most valuable technique of the diet is to keep tight control over the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to take large amounts of Omega 3 fish oils. |
