Lycopene foods (includes grapefruit, red peppers and sweet gourd) The chemical lypcopene is a simple chemical compound and a member of the carotenid family of phytochemicals. This chemical is accountable for the vivid red hue of quite a few fruits and vegetables. Fortunately, unlike numerous vitamins, lycopene does not become less effective if subjected to heat, but is essentially enhanced by going through the cooking process. . Lycoprene's most important medical value is that it behaves as an antioxidant and is thought to be of use in the fight to lower the chances of contracting cancer. This useful phytochemical is the most potent fighter of singlet oxygen, which is correlated with skin aging. It's also believed to prevent the development of atherosclerosis. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes pickled shallots, chives and spring onions) The onion range of vegetables is high in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Although there is as yet, not enough hard medical proof published, allyl sulphides are also thought by many experts to help with colds, sterilization and diabetes. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also good for weight loss, so should be included in every diet system. The low calorie diet In simple terms, the low calorie diet depends on the fact that in order to get rid of some fat, the most important step is to consume fewer calories than your body requires. What is a calorie? A calorie is a unit of measurement for energy. The 'calorie' is the the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at atmospheric pressure. If your meal has higher calories, then it will provide your body with more energy when your body digests it. Foods low in calories include lettuce, swede, guava, lower fat hot-dogs, and low-fat cheese. |
