The low-cal diet
In short, the low-cal diet says that if you are going to achieve weight loss, the important thing to take in less calories than you burn up. The calorie defined? The calorie is the unit used for measuring the amount of energy in food. A calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise one cubic centimeter of water by one degree centigrade. If something contains more calories, then it will provide your body with more energy to use when consumed. Examples of low calorie foods include fresh green beans, radishes, grapefruit, canadian bacon, and eggs. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi index diet system is linked to the glycaemic index, a list showing types of food and a score representing the speed with which the glucose in the food type gets changed to sugar in your body. The claim is that slow acting food types (ie those with a low Glycaemic index score), suppress your appetite for longer and help to consume fewer food without feeling you are always hungry. It's also extremeley effective for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI food types are useful in preventing rises in blood glucose levels. Flavonoid rich foods (inlcudes garlic, red apples, lima bean & tea) The nutrients known as flavonoids present in these fruits and vegetables are believed to be helpful in fighting cancer. Nutritionalists investigating the medical effects of flavonoids think that they may also have numerous health giving capabilities, including anti-dermatitis and anti-inflammatory powers. The majority of these are low in calories, so are ideal for including in your weight loss program. |
