The Recipe Instructions
 

 

Ingredients

1 bell pepper,chopped
1 onion,chopped
2 med tomatoes,chopped
1 cup chopped celery
1 clove garlic,crushed
2 tbsp minced parsley
2 tsp chopped thyme leaves
2 tsp oregano leaves,chopped
1/8 tsp cayenne
1/2 tsp salt
4 oz smoked sausage,chopped
8 oz chicken breast,chopped
2 cup beef broth or bouillon
1/2 lb cooked shelled shrimp
1 cup cooked rice


Directions

Shell shrimp, halve lengthwise.
In slow cooker,combine all ingred. except shrimp & rice. Cover &
cook on low 9-10 hours. Turn slow cooker on high, add cooked shrimp &
cooked rice. Cover; cook on high 20-30 minutes. Source: "Crockery

Weight loss diets


The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index nutrition and weightloss system is linked to the glycaemic index, a chart showing types of food and a score representing the ease that the glucose of the food type gets converted to sugar in the dieters bloodstream. The claim is that slow release foods (ie with a low Gi score), keep you satisfied for a longer period of time and mean that you can reduce your consumption of food without starving yourself.
It is also extremeley effective for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI foods are useful in reducing surges in glucose levels.


The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system first devised by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet is not distinctly a weight reduction diet, nevertheless many zone diet followers claim that they actually manage to lose a few pounds by following the zone diet.
The science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to gain control of the amount of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, in turn puts your body in a state of equilibrium that is more healthful than usual, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'.
Sears believes that when in the 'zone', your body is much more efficient and, as a consequence, doesn't need to build up stores of fat.
The main method of the zone diet is to control the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to make sure your diet has increased levels of Omega 3 and omega 6.


The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet is still widely used today. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it enables weight reduction whilst allowing many foods that are not normally available to dieters, like meat and cheeses.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. Because of this, it is known as a low carbohydrate, high protein, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil.




The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that dieters should be eating "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Agatston developed his system for his cardiac patients, as a consequence of his detailed study of scientific studies completed on other dietary studies.
Good foods include, canadian bacon, chicken breast, seafood, provolone cheese, pecan halves, nonfat yoghurt and certain vegetables, like black beans, lettuce and snow peas.
