The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi (or glycaemic index) diet is reliant on the gi index, a list of foods and a score representing the ease with which the glucose and energy of the food type gets changed to glucose in your bloodstream. The believe is that slow acting types of food (ie those with a low Glycaemic score), keep you feeling full longer and mean that you can eat less food without craving snacks all the time. It's also very good for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are helpful in controlling increases in glucose secretion. Lycopene super foods (includes grapefruit, red peppers and rosehip) The chemical lypcopene is a naturally occurring compound and part of the phytochemical group known as 'carotenids'. Lycopene is accountable for the vivid red color of many fruits and vegetables. Unlike most other vitamins, it is not damaged if it is cooked, but is really increased in efficacy by being cooked. . Its most important nutritional contribution is that it behaves as an antioxidant and seems to help to reduce the probabilty of contracting cancer. It is the most powerful quencher of singlet oxygen, which is connected with skin aging. It's also thought by nutritionalists to impede the development of atherosclerosis. |
