Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes garlic, leeks and spring onions) The onion range of vegetables is high in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Although there is not much hard medical proof present, allyl sulfides are also believed to aid in blood circulation, high blood pressure and diabetes. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also good for weight loss, so you should add them to your diet. Flavonoid rich foods (inlcudes cranberry, asparagus, lima bean & coriander) The compounds known as flavonoids which exist in these fruit, vegetables and pulses are thought by experts to have properties in helping to prevent cancer. Nutritionalists who have been studying the properties of flavonoids believe that they could also have many health giving properties, amongst them, anti-allergic and antitumor properties. The majority of these are also good for weight loss, so should be a part of every weight loss program. The Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the popular atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it allows weight reduction whilst allowing you to eat many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, such as bacon and some dairy produce. With this diet you eat protein and fat, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. Because of this, it is known as a high protein, low carb, weight loss program. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including, but not limited to, cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil. |
