The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss regime initially created by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet is not expressly a fat reduction diet, nevertheless some people discover that they really manage to lose weight by following it. The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you limit the secretion of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a consequence puts the body in a balanced state which is far more healthful than it normally is, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone". Sears believes that when in the 'zone', your body is working at its most efficient and, as a result, does not convert energy to unsightly fat. The key technique of the zone system is to monitor and control the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to make sure your diet has plenty of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. Lycopene rich foods (includes watermelon, red bell peppers and tomatoes) The nutrient lypcopene is a simple compound used to color foods and part of the same family of phytochemicals as carotene. It is behind the red hue of quite a few foods. Usefully, unlike numerous nutrients, lycopene does not become less effective if subjected to heat, but is in fact increased in efficacy by going through the cooking process. . Its most interesting value is that it is an antioxidant and is thought to help to lower the chances of developing cancer. It is the strongest fighter of singlet oxygen, which is connected with aging of the skin. It is also thought to impede the development of atherosclerosis. |
