Lycopene super foods (includes melon, red bell peppers & tomato sauce) The nutrient lypcopene is a simple pigment and a member of the same family of phytochemicals as carotene. This chemical is behind the red colour of quite a few types of food. Unlike numerous other nutrients, this useful phytochemical is not damaged if it is cooked, but is in fact strengthened by being heated. . Its most interesting value is that it is an antioxidant and appears to be an asset in the battle to reduce the risks of developing cancer. It is the most effective carotenoid quencher of singlet oxygen, which is connected with aging of the skin. It is also thought to block the growth of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet started by Florida-based cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages the consumption of "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston developed his weight loss system for people who have heart disease, as a consequence of his detailed analysis of scientific research on other nutritional studies. Approved foods include, canadian bacon, chicken breast, seafood, provolone cheese, peanut butter, nonfat milk and certain vegetables, such as lentils, cucumbers and water chestnuts. |
