Ingredients
1 1/2 tbsp mayonnaise
1 tsp white horseradish
4 slice Atkins bread, toasted
1/2 English cucumber, thinly sliced
lengthwise
4 romaine lettuce leaves, broken in half
8 oz deli roast beef slices
1/2 tsp freshly-ground black pepper
2 oz blue cheese, crumbled
Directions
Mayonnaise and horseradish; spread on bread slices. Layer cucumber,
lettuce and roast beef on 2 slices. Sprinkle with pepper and blue cheese.
Top with remaining bread slices.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index diet system is based around the gi (or glycaemic index), a list of types of food and a score illustrating the ease that the carbohydrates of the food type gets transformed to sugar in your body. The theory is that slow acting types of food (ie those food types with a low Glycaemic index score), suppress your appetite for longer and mean that you can injest less food without feeling you are always hungry. It is also extremely effective for sufferers from diabetes, as the low GI types of food are useful in managing surges in blood sugar secretion. The Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Although highly controversial, it allows fat reduction whilst encouraging you to eat many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, like fatty meat and egg and cheese. With the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. Because of this, it is known as a high protein, low carb, weight loss program. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. Wonder foods with carotenes (includes parsley, turnip greens and sweet potatoes) These orange and green natural foods contain carotenes thought by experts to play a major part in preventing cancer, particularly those cancers involving the lung, esophagus and stomach. Many are low in calories, so you should add them to your weight loss regime. |
