Low calorie diet

In a nutshell, low calorie diet states that if you are going to get rid of some fat, the important thing to consume less calories than you need.

What is a calorie?
A calorie is a measurement of the energy provided by food. The calorie is the amount of heat required to raise 1 kilogram of water 1 degree centigrade. If something contains more calories, then it will provide your body with more energy to use when eaten.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet system primarily suggested by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a weight loss diet, nevertheless many people find that they really reduce a few pounds by following it.
The 'science' behind the Zone Diet is that if one can gain control of the secretion of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, in turn puts your body in a state of balance which is far more wholesome than it normally is, known as the 'zone'.
Sears believes that if you get into this 'zone', your body is working at its best and, because of this, doesn't convert energy to unsightly fat.
The key procedure of the zone system is to control the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get plenty of Omega 3 fish oils.

The nutrients called 'flavonoids' present in these types of food are thought by nutritionalists to have properties in fighting cancer.
Doctors studying the medical effects of flavonoids believe they may well also have many other healthy benefits, including, but not limited to, anti-candida and antitumor properties.
The majority of these are also low in calories, so should be included in your weight loss regime.
