The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan created by Dr. arthur agatston, a cardiologist from miami, usa, which emphasizes the consumption of "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston developed his system for people who have cardiac problems, as a result of his analysis of scientific data on other weight loss regimes.
Examples of good foods include, broiled ham, skinless poultry, prawns, ricotta cheese, pecan halves, lowfat milk and certain vegetables, such as asparagus, eggplant and turnips.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss program initially suggested by Barry Sears in a number of books and publications. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a weight loss diet, however many followers discover that they seem to lose a few pounds when following it.
The main scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to limit the secretion of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a result puts the body in a balanced state which is more healthy than normal, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears alleges that when your body is in this 'zone' it is much more efficient and, as a result, doesn't build up layers of fat.
The key technique of the diet is to control the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to take high levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

Flavonoid foods
(inlcudes garlic, apples, kidney bean & basil)

The flavonoids which are present in these types of food are believed to have properties in preventing cancer.
Experts investigating the medical effects of flavonoids think they may well have many health giving properties, including anti-candida and antitumor activities..
Many are low in calories, so should be included in every diet system.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
