Super foods containing lycopene
(includes water melon, papaya & baby jackfruit)

The nutrient lypcopene is a naturally occurring compound and member of the same family of phytochemicals as carotene. It is behind the red color of a good number of natural foods.

Intrestingly, unlike many nutritional compounds, it not only survives being cooked, but is genuinely enhanced by cooking.

. Its most important value is that it is an antioxidant and is thought to be an asset in the fight to lower the chances of contracting cancer.

Lycopene is the most effective carotenoid quencher of singlet oxygen, which is linked with skin aging. It's also thought by many researchers to slow down the progression of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels.

The Atkins’ Diet
Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Although highly controversial, it claims to allow weight loss whilst encouraging you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, for example fatty meat and hard cheese.
On the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is referred to as a high protein, low carb, weight loss program.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, amongst them, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
