Ingredients
1 1/3 cup bulgur
1 1/3 cup boiling water
4 tbsp golden or dark raisins, might try 1/2 n 1/2
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground cumin
Directions
Place bulgur in a medium-size bowl and cover with boiling water. Add
remaining ingredients and stir to combine. Let stand 30 minutes until
water is absorbed. Fluff and serve warm. This was a serving for 4,
but change it becauce I wanted to frezze some, but instead the
grandchildren came and stayed for supper. Food Exchange per serving:

Weight loss dietsThe Atkins’ Diet Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Popular with many famous celebrities, it supposedly allows weight reduction whilst allowing you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, for example meat and egg and cheese. On the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, diet. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The logic behind the atkins diet is that if we cut down on carbs, we will utilize the fat we already carry and we will become thinner The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet started by Florida-based cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes the consumption of "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston invented the south beach diet for people who have heart disease, as a result of his analysis of scientific studies on other weight loss systems. Good foods include, lean cuts of beef, turkey bacon, shellfish, feta cheese, pistachio nuts, nonfat milk and some vegatables, like asparagus, celery and sprouts. The Glycaemic Index Diet The glycaemic index nutrition system is linked to the gi index, a list showing types of food and a score representing the rapidity that the glucose of the food type gets changed to sugar in the dieters system. The claim is that slow acting types of food (ie those foods with a low Glycaemic score), keep you satiated for longer and help to reduce your consumption of food without feeling hungry. It's also very beneficial for sufferers from diabetes, as the low GI food types are useful in controlling surges in blood sugar amount. |
