Diet Pumpkin Cheese Pie (Diabetic) Recipe brought to you by Diet Recipes To-Go
Diet informationThe Atkins’ Diet Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last decade. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it enables fat reduction whilst allowing many of the foods you love, such as meat and hard cheese. On the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a low carbohydrate, high protein, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi (or glycaemic index) nutrition and weightloss system is based around the gi index, a list showing foods and a score representing the speed that the glucose and energy in the food type gets changed to sugar in your system. The theory is that long-acting types of food (ie those with a low Gi number), will keep you feeling full for longer and help you to reduce your intake of food without starving yourself. It's also very beneficial for sufferers from diabetes, as the low GI food types are helpful in preventing rises in blood glucose levels. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet first detailed by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet is not distinctly a weight loss diet, however many zone diet followers believe that they seem to lose body weight by following this system. The science claimed for the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to gain control of the secretion of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a result puts the body in a state of balance that is more wholesome than other diets, known as the 'zone'. Sears claims that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is perfectly balanced and, as a consequence, doesn't need to convert surplus energy to fat. The key technique of the zone system is to monitor and control the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to dose yourself with increased amounts of Omega 3 fish oils. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a weight loss system invented by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes the consumption of "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston developed his weight loss regime for people who have heart disease, as a result of his analysis of scientific data on other diets. Examples of good foods include, veal cutlets, chicken breast, seafood, fat-free cheeses, peanut butter, nonfat milk and some vegatables, such as asparagus, cauliflower and water chestnuts. |
