Weight loss diets

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi (or glycaemic index) nutrition system is reliant on the glycaemic index, a list showing food types and an indicator of the rapidity with which the carbohydrates in the food type gets converted to glucose in the dieters body. The claim is that slow release types of food (ie those food types with a low Gi score), keep you satisfied for a longer period of time and mean that you can reduce your consumption of food without craving snacks all the time.
It's also beneficial for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI types of food are useful in managing rises in blood sugar amount.

The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the famous atkins diet is still widely used today. Although not accepted by all scientists, it allows weight reduction whilst encouraging you to eat many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, eg bacon and some dairy produce.
With the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is the carbs that must be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a low carbohydrate/high protein, nutrition and weightloss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan started by Cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that one should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston developed his dietary regime as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his detailed study of scientific studies on other diets.
Good foods include, lean cuts of beef, turkey breast, fish and shellfish, provolone cheese, peanut butter, lowfat milk and certain vegetables, such as artichokes, broccoli and mushrooms.

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
