The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan created by Florida-based cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes that dieters should be eating "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston invented his system for his cardiac patients, as a consequence of his detailed analysis of scientific data completed on other dietary studies. Good foods include, lean beef, turkey breast, prawns, feta cheese, almonds, lowfat milk and some vegatables, such as green beans, broccoli and water chestnuts. Brassicas, Healthy superfoods that help with Dieting (examples: Arugula, Boiled potatoes, Mustard greens and Napa) Known as cruciferous vegetables, these are rich in vitamins (eg.vitamin c), minerals (including potassium and selenium), fibre, chlorophyll, antioxidents and isothiocyanates. In addition to their many other health and weight loss benefits, the isothiocyanates in these are believed by doctors to reduce the risk of cancer. |
