The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet primarily invented by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a weight loss diet, although many people claim that they really lose weight by following it. The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if you limit the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts one's body in a balanced state which is more healthful than other diets, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears alleges that when in the 'zone', your body is working at its best and, as a result, doesn't need to build up stores of fat. The most valuable procedure of the system is to control the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with high levels of Omega 3 and omega 6. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a weight loss system invented by Cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that one should consume "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston invented his dietary regime for people who have heart disease, as a result of his detailed study of scientific studies on other dietary studies. "good" foods include, broiled ham, skinless poultry, shellfish, parmesan cheese, pistachio nuts, nonfat yoghurt and some vegatables, like black beans, lettuce and turnips. Foods rich in flavonoids (inlcudes lettuce, cabbage, garden pea & tea) The compounds known as flavonoids found in these natural foods are believed to have properties in preventing cancer. Doctors looking into the properties of flavonoids believe that they may also have numerous benefits to our wellbeing, amongst them, antiviral and antitumor activities.. A good number are also good for weight loss, so make sure you add them to your weight loss program. |
