Weight loss dietsThe Glycaemic Index Diet The gi (or glycaemic index) diet is linked to the gi index, a list of food types and a score representing the speed that the carbs in the food gets changed to glucose in the dieters system. The theory is that slow acting types of food (ie those foods with a low Gi score), keep you satiated for longer and help to cut down on food without being miserabl;e. It is also very efficient for folk with diabetes, as the low GI foods are beneficial in managing increases in glucose amount. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet primarily advocated by Barry Sears in a number of books and publications. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a fat reduction diet, however many zone diet fans believe that they really lose weight by following this system. The 'science' claimed for the Zone Diet is that if you can gain control of the secretion of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, as a result puts one's body in a balanced state which is a lot more healthy than normal, this is referred to as 'the zone'. Sears claims that when in the 'zone', your body is perfectly balanced and, because of this, does not convert energy to unsightly fat. The main technique of the zone diet is to maintain the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get increased levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. |
