Ingredients

1/2 cup long-grain white rice
1/4 cup diced pimento
2 tsp olive oil
1 salt and pepper


Directions

Place rice ina strainer and run cold water through it to wash it.
Bring a large pot with 2 to 3 quarts water to a boil. Add rice and
boil, uncovered, about 10 minutes. Test a grain. Rice should be
cooked through but not soft. Drain. Place in serving bowl and add
piment o and olive oil. Toss well. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Low calorie diet

Rather obviously, the low calorie diet says that if you plan to become thinner, the important thing to consume fewer calories than you actually use.

What is a calorie?
A calorie is a unit of measurement for energy. A 'calorie' is the the energy required to increase the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at normal atmospheric pressure. If a food has higher calories, then it will turn into more energy when it is eaten.

Low calorie foods include lettuce, swede, grapefruit, low fat hot-dogs, and low-fat cheese.


The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system invented by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that one should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Agatston invented his dietary regime for people who have cardiac problems, based on his analysis of scientific research on other dietary studies.
Good foods include, lean beef, chicken breast, prawns, mozzarella cheese, pistachios, nonfat milk and certain vegetables, like butter beans, cabbage and water chestnuts.

The onion family of vegetables is high in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Although there is too little real proof at hand, allyl sulfides are also thought by many experts to reduce symptoms with antiinflammatory effect, sterilization and insomnia.

Foods containing allyl sulfides are low in calories, so you should add them to your diet.
