The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet system initially detailed by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet is not expressly a fat reduction diet, nevertheless many 'zone dieters' claim that they actually reduce body weight by following this system.
The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can control the levels of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a consequence puts your body in a balanced state that is more wholesome than usual, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'.
Sears holds the theory that when your body is in this 'zone' it is working at its best and, because of this, doesn't build up fat.
The most interesting method of the zone diet is to monitor and control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get increased levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet is still widely used today. Popular with many famous celebrities, it supposedly allows weight loss whilst allowing many of the foods you love, like bacon and cheeses.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is often referred to as a high protein, low carb, weight loss program.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including, but not limited to, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil.

Cruciferous vegetables, Wonderfoods that aid Weight loss
(eg. Arugula, Bok choy, Mizuna and Rutabaga)
These cruciferous vegetables are rich in vitamins (eg.folate and vit c), minerals (selenium and potassium, for example), fibre, chlorophyll, antioxidents, and indole-3-carbinol.

In addition to their numerous great health properties, the minerals and nutrients in these are thought to help reduce the cancer risk.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
