Weight loss dietsThe Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet first invented by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a weight loss diet, although some people believe that they manage to lose weight by following the zone diet. The science claimed for the Zone Diet is that if you can control the secretion of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts one's body in a state of equilibrium which is far more wholesome than usual, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears believes that when your body is in this 'zone' it is working at its best and, as a result, does not build up layers of fat. The most important procedure of the system is to monitor and control the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to make sure your diet has large amounts of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet created by Dr. arthur agatston which emphasizes that one should consume "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston developed this diet as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a result of his analysis of scientific data on other weight loss regimes. "good" foods include, lean beef, turkey bacon, clams, feta cheese, almonds, eggs and certain vegetables, like split peas, cauliflower and mushrooms. |
