Types of diet

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Although highly controversial, it claims to allow fat reduction whilst allowing many of the foods you love, like bacon and butter.
On the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is often referred to as a high protein, low carb, nutrition and weight loss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index nutrition and weightloss system is reliant on the gi index, a list of food types and a score representing the speed with which the carbohydrates of the food gets transformed to sugar in the dieters body. The believe is that slow acting types of food (ie those foods with a low Gi number), keep you satisfied for a longer period of time and help to reduce your intake of food without feeling you are always hungry.
It is also especially beneficial for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI food types are useful in controlling surges in glucose levels.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system primarily created by Barry Sears in a series of books and publications. The Zone diet is not distinctly a weight reduction diet, nevertheless many zone diet fans discover that they really reduce a few pounds by following it.
The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to control the amount of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts the body in a state of equilibrium which is an awful lot more wholesome than it normally is, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears believes that when in the 'zone', your body is working at its best and, as a result, does not need to convert surplus energy to fat.
The most important procedure of the zone diet is to monitor and control the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with increased amounts of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system created by Dr. arthur agatston which stresses that one should consume "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Agatston developed his dietary regime for his cardiac patients, as a consequence of his analysis of scientific studies completed on other nutritional studies.
Approved foods include, lean cuts of beef, chicken breast, fish and shellfish, provolone cheese, pecan halves, eggs and some vegatables, such as black beans, cauliflower and snow peas.

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life.
