Types of dietThe Atkins’ Diet Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Although highly controversial, it claims to allow fat reduction whilst encouraging you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, for example lamb and egg and cheese. With this diet you eat protein and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is often referred to as a low carb/high protein, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a weight loss system started by Dr. arthur agatston which stresses that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston developed this diet for people who have heart disease, as a result of his detailed analysis of scientific studies on other nutritional studies. "good" foods include, veal cutlets, chicken breast, prawns, mozzarella cheese, almonds, eggs and some vegatables, like artichokes, broccoli and turnips. |
