Weight loss systems

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system primarily created by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet is not distinctly a fat reduction diet, but many people believe that they actually reduce weight by following this system.
The science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to limit the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then your body releases eicosanoids which, in turn puts one's body in a balanced state which is far more healthful than normal, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears holds the theory that if you get into this 'zone', your body is much more efficient and, as a result, doesn't need to build up stores of fat.
The key method of the zone system is to monitor and control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to make sure your diet has plenty of Omega 3 fish oils.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index nutrition system is linked to the gi index, a list showing foods and a score representing the speed with which the glucose and energy in the food gets changed to sugar in the dieters blood stream. The claim is that long-acting food types (ie with a low Glycaemic index score), keep you feeling full longer and help to cut down on food without being miserabl;e.
It is also extremeley effective for people with diabetes, as the low GI foods are helpful in reducing surges in blood sugar amount.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
