The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages the consumption of "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston developed the south beach diet for people who have heart disease, as a result of his detailed analysis of scientific studies on other weight loss studies.
"good" foods include, lean beef, chicken breast, fish and shellfish, feta cheese, peanuts, lowfat milk and some vegatables, like black beans, cucumbers and snow peas.

The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the sixities, the famous atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it allows weight reduction whilst encouraging you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, such as pork and eggs.
With the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is the carbs that must be avoided. It is referred to as a low carb/high protein, diet system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil.

Foods containing carotenes
(includes cilantro, turnip greens and tomato puree)
These amazing natural foods are rich in carotenes (alpha and beta) believed to play a major part in minimizing the risk of cancer, particularly cancers of the esophagus. Most also help you lose weight, so should be a part of every diet.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
