The brassicas, Healthy superfoods that help with Weight loss (eg. Broccoli, Bok choy, Turnip greens and Napa) Vegetablesi in the brassica family are full of vitamins (folate and vitamin c, for example), minerals (eg. potassium and selenium), fibre, chlorophyll, antioxidents, isothiocyanates, and indole-3-carbinol. In addition to their many other health and diet benefits, the minerals, vitamins and nutrients in these are believed to help reduce the cancer risk. Foods rich in flavonoids (inlcudes onion, brussels sprouts, soy and chamomile) The nutrients known as flavonoids present in these foods show promise in fighting cancer. Nutritionalists studying the properties of flavonoids think they could also have most other health giving properties, including, but not limited to, anti-candida and anti-inflammatory properties. Most are also low in calories, so should be included in every weight loss regime. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a weight loss system created by Dr. arthur agatston which encourages that one should consume "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston developed the south beach diet as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a result of his analysis of scientific data completed on other nutritional studies. Approved foods include, lean cuts of beef, turkey bacon, prawns, feta cheese, peanut butter, lowfat yoghurt and some vegatables, like artichokes, eggplant and sprouts. |
