Diet informationThe South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet invented by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston invented this diet for his cardiac patients, as a result of his analysis of scientific research on other diets. Examples of good foods include, broiled ham, skinless poultry, prawns, cottage cheese, pistachio nuts, lowfat yoghurt and some vegatables, like green beans, collard greens and mushrooms. The Glycaemic Index Diet The glycaemic index nutrition and weightloss system is based around the glycaemic index, a chart showing foods and a score representing the speed that the glucose in the food gets converted to sugar in the dieters bloodstream. The believe is that slow release types of food (ie those with a low Gi number), suppress your appetite for longer and help you to reduce your intake of food without feeling you are missing out. It's also very beneficial for people with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are useful in minimizing rises in glucose levels. |
