Diet types

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition system initially invented by Barry Sears in a series of books and publications. The Zone diet isn’t exactly a weight loss diet, although some people claim that they really manage to lose body weight when following it.
The 'science' behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to limit the amount of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which puts the body in a state of equilibrium which is far more healthful than it normally is, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears alleges that if you get into this 'zone', your body is working at its best and, as a result, doesn't build up layers of fat.
The main method of the zone diet is to control the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to take high levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The Atkins’ Diet
Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last decade. Popular with many famous celebrities, it enables weight loss whilst encouraging you to eat many of the foods you love, eg lamb and some dairy produce.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a high protein, low carb, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system created by Cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses the consumption of "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston invented the south beach diet for people who have heart disease, as a result of his detailed analysis of scientific data on other weight loss regimes.
Approved foods include, canadian bacon, turkey bacon, shellfish, low or fat free cheeses, peanut butter, lowfat or nonfat milk and some vegatables, such as black beans, collard greens and mushrooms.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
