Diet information

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition system initially suggested by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet is not exactly a fat reduction diet, although many followers believe that they really manage to lose body weight by following it.
The scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can limit the levels of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids which puts one's body in a state of balance which is more healthy than usual, known as the 'zone'.
Sears states that when your body is in this 'zone' it is perfectly balanced and, as a consequence, doesn't need to convert surplus energy to fat.
The main technique of the system is to control the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to dose yourself with high levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a weight loss system started by Cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston developed his nutritional system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, based on his detailed analysis of scientific data on other nutritional studies.
Examples of good foods include, lean beef, turkey breast, clams, ricotta cheese, almonds, lowfat or nonfat milk and certain vegetables, such as kidney beans, lettuce and water chestnuts.

The Atkins’ Diet
Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it supposedly allows weight loss whilst allowing you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, like beef and cheeses.
With this diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is often referred to as a low carb/high protein, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The controversial theory behind the popular atkins diet is that if we cut down on carbohydrates, our bodies will consume the fat we have stored and we will achieve weight loss

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
