Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes garlic, leeks and green onion)

The onion family of vegetables is rich in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Even though there is too little real proof obtainable, allyl sulphides are also thought by many researchers to help with colds, high blood pressure and insomnia.

Foods containing allyl sulfides are also low in calories, so you should add them to your diet system.

Superfoods containing flavonoids
(inlcudes dark chocolate, asparagus, lima bean and coriander)

The flavonoids discovered in these food types are thought by experts to have properties in fighting cancer.
Researchers researching the medical effects of flavonoids suspect that they also have numerous other health giving properties, including anti-allergic and anti-inflammatory activities..
Many are also good for weight loss, so are ideal for including in your diet.

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the popular atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it supposedly allows weight reduction whilst allowing you to eat many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, for example beef and hard cheese.
On the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is the carbs that must be avoided. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, weight loss regime.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including, but not limited to, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The logic of the atkins diet is that even though our bodies use both fats and carbs to change into glucose, it is the carbohydrates which are burned first. If we take in less carbohydrates, we will utilise the fat we already carry and we will achieve weight loss. Although tempting, the atkins diet is controversial, not all nutritionalists accept this as true and some think it is sometimes hazardous.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
