The brassica family, Super foods that help with Weight loss
(examples: Broccoli, Broccoli, Mizuna and Radishes)
Altthough not always popular with children, these vegetables are jam-packed with vitamins (folate and vitamin c, for example), minerals (including potassium and selenium), fibre, chlorophyll, antioxidents, indole-3-carbinol and isothiocyanates..

Amongst many beneficial effects, the isothiocyanates in these are believed by scientists to significantly lower the risk of getting cancer.

Super foods containing lycopene
(includes grapefruit, red bell peppers & cochinchin gourd)

The chemical lypcopene is a natural pigment and part of the same group of phytochemicals as carotene. It is behind the dark red hue of quite a few foods.

Intrestingly, unlike numerous other healthy agents, this useful phytochemical not only survives being cooked, but is actually increased in efficacy by cooking.

. Its most interesting advantage is that it works as an antioxidant and is thought to be an asset in the fight to lower the probabilty of developing cancer.

It is the most powerful eliminator of singlet oxygen, which is linked with aging of the skin. It's also thought by many experts to slow down the growth of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet first advocated by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t particularly a weight loss diet, although many zone diet fans discover that they really lose body weight by following this system.
The main theory of the Zone Diet is that if you can control the amount of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts the body in a balanced state which is much more healthful than normal, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears claims that when your body is in this 'zone' it is working at its best and, as a result, doesn't need to convert surplus energy to fat.
The main technique of the zone diet is to control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get increased amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
