Weight loss systemsThe Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system initially detailed by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a fat reduction diet, but many people believe that they lose weight by following it. The main scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can limit the levels of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a consequence puts one's body in a state of equilibrium which is an awful lot more healthful than usual, which is known as the zone. Sears states that when your body is in this 'zone' it is perfectly balanced and, as a consequence, does not need to build up stores of fat. The main method of the zone diet is to monitor and control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure your diet has increased levels of Omega 3 fish oils. The Atkins’ Diet Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Popular with many famous celebrities, it claims to allow weight loss but still allows you to eat many of the foods you love, such as meat and egg and cheese. On the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is referred to as a high protein, low carb, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet plan created by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages the consumption of "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Doctor agatston developed his system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a result of his analysis of scientific data completed on other weight loss studies.
