Diet information

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system initially devised by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a weight reduction diet, nevertheless many zone diet fans claim that they actually seem to lose body weight by following this system.
The 'science' claimed for the Zone Diet is that if you can control the secretion of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which puts your body in a balanced state that is an awful lot more wholesome than usual, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'.
Sears alleges that when in the 'zone', your body is much more efficient and, as a consequence, does not build up fat.
The key process of the zone system is to keep tight control over the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to take large amounts of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The Atkins’ Diet
Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the popular atkins diet is still widely used today. Although highly controversial, it enables weight reduction whilst encouraging you to eat many of the foods you love, like bacon and hard cheese.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is referred to as a high protein, low carb, nutrition and weightloss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The logic behind the popular atkins diet is that even if our bodies use both fats and carbohydrates to burn into glucose, it is the carbs which are burned initially. If we eat less carbohydrates, our bodies will burn up the fat we have stored and we will become thinner. This is the bit that is divisive, not all doctors concur and some hold that it is often unsafe.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet invented by Dr. arthur agatston, a cardiologist from miami, usa, which encourages that dieters should be eating "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston developed his weight loss system for people who have heart disease, as a result of his detailed study of scientific data completed on other weight loss studies.
Examples of good foods include, veal cutlets, chicken breast, fish and shellfish, provolone cheese, pistachio nuts, lowfat yoghurt and some vegatables, such as kidney beans, collard greens and water chestnuts.

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
