The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index weight loss program is linked to the gi index, a list of food types and an indicator of the ease that the glucose in the food type gets transformed to sugar in your system. The theory is that long-acting foods (ie those food types with a low Glycaemic score), keep you satisfied for a longer period of time and help you to injest less food without feeling you are always hungry. It is also especially beneficial for folk with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are beneficial in reducing surges in blood glucose amount. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet system first devised by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet is not expressly a weight loss diet, but many people claim that they really lose weight by following the zone diet. The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you can gain control of the amount of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a consequence puts the body in a state of equilibrium which is much more healthy than usual, which is known as the zone. Sears alleges that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is working at its best and, because of this, does not convert energy to unsightly fat. The main process of the zone diet is to keep tight control over the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get large amounts of Omega 3 fish oils. Healthy foods with carotenes (includes carrots, collard greens and tomato puree) These healthy superfoods contain carotenes believed by scientists play a key part in minimizing the chances of contracting, particularly those cancers involving the stomach and lesophagus. Many are also good for weight loss, so should be a part of every diet system. |
