Ingredients
4 egg whites, at room temp.
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/8 tsp salt
2 tbsp filberts or pecans, chopped
2 tbsp non-fat dry milk powder
1 tbsp almond flavored liqueur
1 tbsp honey
Directions
In small mixer bowl, beat egg whites, lemon juice and salt at low
speed until foamy. Gradually increase speed and beat to high peak
stage. Add other ingredients, continue beating at high speed,
scraping edges of bowl, until mixture stands in stiff peaks. Use
pastry bag with plain tip to squeeze 1x4" strips on cookie sheet
lined with brown paper. Bake at 200 for 1 hour. Turn off heat but DO
NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR. Let cookies dry at least 2 hours or overnight.
Carefully remove with spatula; store in air-tight container.

The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet primarily suggested by Barry Sears in a number of books and publications. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a fat reduction diet, nevertheless some people claim that they manage to lose body weight by following this system. The main scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you can control the levels of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, in turn puts one's body in a state of balance which is an awful lot more wholesome than other diets, this is referred to as 'the zone'. Sears alleges that a body that is in 'the zone' is perfectly balanced and, as a consequence, does not build up fat. The key process of the zone system is to keep tight control over the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has increased levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. The Glycaemic Index Diet The glycaemic index nutrition and weight loss system is based on the gi (or glycaemic index), a list showing food types and a score representing the speed that the carbohydrates of the food gets changed to glucose in the dieters body. The believe is that long-acting food types (ie those with a low Gi score), keep you feeling full longer and mean that you can eat less food without feeling you are always hungry. It's also extremely good for folk with diabetes, as the low GI foods are beneficial in managing rises in blood glucose secretion. |
