Foods high in flavonoids
(inlcudes citrus fruits, brussels sprouts, soya and basil)

The nutrients known as flavonoids found in these fruit, vegetables and pulses are thought by nutritionalists to have properties in fighting cancer.
Nutritionalists looking into the medical effects of flavonoids suspect that they may well have most other healthy benefits, including anti-candida and antiplatelet activities..
Many also have a low calorie count, so should be a part of every diet.

Foods containing carotenes
(includes paprika, rose hip puree and tomato ketchup)
These healthy plants have high levels of carotenes (alpha and beta) thought by experts to play a major part in minimising the risk of cancer, specifically those cancers involving the esophagus and stomach. Many also help you lose weight, so make sure you add them to your weight loss program.

The Atkins’ Diet
Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last decade. Although not accepted by all scientists, it allows fat reduction whilst encouraging you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, for example beef and egg and cheese.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that must be avoided. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, weight loss regime.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, amongst them, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The logic of the popular atkins diet is that if we take in less carbohydrates, we will deplete our stored fat and we will get rid of some fat

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
