Diet types

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet initially detailed by Barry Sears in a series of books and publications. The Zone diet is not distinctly a weight loss diet, but many zone diet fans find that they actually manage to lose body weight by following the zone diet.
The main scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you control the levels of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, as a consequence puts one's body in a state of equilibrium which is a lot more healthful than usual, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears believes that a body that is in 'the zone' is much more efficient and, because of this, doesn't build up layers of fat.
The key process of the zone diet is to monitor and control the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get increased amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6.

The Atkins’ Diet
Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet is still widely used today. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it enables weight reduction but still allows you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, like lamb and cheeses.
With the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a low carbohydrate, high protein, nutrition and weight loss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a weight loss system invented by Dr. arthur agatston which emphasizes that dieters should be eating "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston developed this diet for people who have cardiac problems, based on his analysis of scientific research completed on other dietary studies.
Examples of good foods include, lean beef, turkey bacon, clams, provolone cheese, peanuts, eggs and some vegatables, like lentils, collard greens and snow peas.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index diet is linked to the glycaemic index, a chart showing types of food and an indicator of the rapidity with which the carbs in the food gets converted to sugar in your bloodstream. The claim is that slow release food types (ie those food types with a low Glycaemic index score), keep you feeling full longer and mean that you can reduce your intake of food without being miserabl;e.
It is also extremeley useful for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI food types are helpful in minimizing surges in blood glucose amount.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
