Types of diet

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index nutrition and weight loss system is linked to the gi index, a list of foods and an indicator of the rapidity with which the glucose in the food gets converted to sugar in your blood stream. The theory is that slow acting types of food (ie those foods with a low Gi score), suppress your appetite and mean that you can eat less food without being miserabl;e.
It's also very efficient for people with diabetes, as the low GI food types are helpful in controlling increases in blood glucose amount.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a weight loss system invented by Cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that dieters should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston developed the south beach diet for people who have cardiac problems, as a consequence of his detailed analysis of scientific research on other weight loss systems.
Good foods include, broiled ham, chicken breast, fish, mozzarella cheese, pistachios, nonfat yoghurt and some vegatables, like butter beans, collard greens and sprouts.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition system first created by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet is not expressly a weight reduction diet, although many 'zone dieters' believe that they actually reduce body weight by following this system.
The science claimed for the Zone Diet is that if you manage to limit the levels of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a consequence puts the body in a state of equilibrium that is much, much more healthy than usual, known as the 'zone'.
Sears holds the theory that when in the 'zone', your body is much more efficient and, as a result, doesn't build up fat.
The main technique of the zone system is to monitor and control the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to take plenty of Omega 3 fish oils.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
